Question: How do you keep a straight face in comical situations?

It’s not always easy. If it’s appropriate I like to have a good laugh with my patients – they often see the funny side of things as well. As long as you’re laughing with them and not at them then I think that is fine. Sometimes you just have to hold it all in until you can share the moment with a colleague in a private moment.

I agree with Deborah! You just have to judge the situation you are in and if the patient would also find it funny, then have a good laugh together!
Lots of medics tend to be friends with other medics and this is a good opportunity to let it all out, the good times and the bad!
