Once I had decided that I wanted to be a doctor it was the obvious next step for me to want to work in the NHS. When you first qualify as a doctor you have to do two years of rotations in hospitals which are called the Foundation Programme. This has to be done working in the NHS and to train to either be a GP or hospital specialist you also have to work in the NHS. That all said, I will always work in the NHS as it’s founding principle of free healthcare for everyone at the point of access is something I strongly believe in.
