That’s a tough question! In some ways the exams always get harder, but I think for me it probably has to be my final exams in my degree – I spent a whole year preparing for them with hours of work going into it. When it came to the actual exams they weren’t that bad but probably because of the amount of time I had to put in!

I think every new set of exams seems the hardest until you do it! I found my 4th year uni exams some of the hardest as there was a lot of new knowledge to cover. I thought my final exams were easier because of the longer time we had to prepare.

The last exam you sit in GP training is called the CSA. You have to see 13 patients (really they’re actors) in ten minute slots. I think the worst aspect of the exam is that it’s so realistic and all the patients have conditions you could see anytime as a GP. But the examiners assess everything: medical knowledge but also what you say, how you say it, and even your body language!

All of them, I’ve never been any good at exams, better at course work!
