I had no idea what I wanted to do. When I did my training there was no option to do the children’s, mental health or learning disability branches – it was just general nursing. Throughout my training I found I enjoyed surgery better than medical wards so this is where I started off – my management placement was in Neuro and so I got my first job in this area. However since then I have worked across lots of specialisms and that’s why I like General Practice Nursing as I get a good variety and use all my skills.
